Are you FUN-raising or FUND-Raising?
We offer two different types of Video Horse Racing events, depending on whether your event is purely an entertainment event, or is a charitable fund-raiser as permitted by law. The formats of each type differ somewhat, as do features we are or are not permitted to provide based on restrictions imposed on charitable fund-raising events by State law.
The Turf Club
The Turf Club is our complete deluxe video horse racing package for entertainment-type events. With every Turf Club package, our staff takes care of the entire racing portion of the event – you just plan the rest of the party and leave the racing to us.
A complete Turf Club event from PCI Entertainment includes:
- Up to (12) twelve pre-recorded races on DVD.
- State-of-the-art projection equipment (projector, DVD player, large-format screen, etc.).
- A high-quality sound system with race playback, recorded sound (music), and pubilc address (microphone) capabilities.
- A number of betting windows (oak finish with brass trim), tailored to the number of guests your are expecting.
- Customized color programs specifically tailored to your organization and your event.
- A complete race staff, consisting of an event MC and trained race cashiers.
- All betting slips, fun money, raffle tickets, and other necessary supplies.
In a Turf Club event, all horses are pre-named in the supplied programs and the horse names cannot be changed (although we can rename the jockeys if you are so inclined). The number of horses in each race (the side of the field) varies from race to race, just like a real horse race. Turf Club events offer six different betting options (again, just like at a real horse race); WIN, PLACE, SHOW, QUINELLA, EXACTA, and DAILY DOUBLE (If you don’t understand what all these are, don’t worry – our race MC will explain it all before the races begin). All wagering is in increments of $5.00. Once each race is complete, the results are displayed on the video screen along with payouts on winning tickets.
Turf Club events are excellent for company parties and, corporate entertainment and other social events where guests do not pay anything to play or participate.
A Day at the Derby do-it-yourself kits
If you wish to put on a Day at the Derby event as a fund-raiser for your church, school, or other registered charity, we can provide you with a complete do-it-yourself race kit for your event. By law for these types of events we cannot provide staff at your event, but we are happy to provide planning assistance and complete easy-to-follow instructions to make your event a great success.
Your Do-It-Yourself kit will include:
- Pre-recorded races on DVD or VHS tape.
- All betting slips and race programs.
- Complete instructions
State law permits certain types of charities to hold video horse racing events. Guests can wager actual cash on the outcome of the races. We cannot provide staff for these type of events by law, but we do have kits available that make it extremely easy for your charity to do a party of this type.
Typically in these events there are a set number of races and a set number of horses in each race to allow the charity to sell the naming rights to each horse in each race for a small fee (extra income). When the race is played, the horses in each race are referred to by number, and typically guests can only bet a horse to WIN (although WIN PLACE & SHOW) kits are available. The charity makes money because it retains a percentage of all the money wagered in each race – the balance is evenly divided among the winning tickets sold for that race. Sounds complicated…but it’s really easy, and best of all the charity gets to decide on the percentage it keeps!
